The crime reports shown on this site come from a public dataset (Crimes - 2001 to present) published by the City of Chicago Police Department.

The data is updated daily around 8am CST.


Why is the most recent crime report data one week old?

The Chicago Police Department embargos their crime reports for 7 days to ensure that the data is complete and accurate. Even so, some crime report details are updated after they have been published.


What do the Arrest? and Domestic? attributes mean?

Arrest? This crime report led to an arrest.

Domestic? This crime report was flagged as being a domestic abuse.
